4th Erbitux Treatment
Somewhere along the way, Sam and I got the impression that since the Erbitux was not being combined with another chemo (Camptosar that has really bad side effects), that it was going to be smooth sailing or at least not as bad as the other chemos that he has taken. We couldn't have been more mistaken. He has not had a good day in almost two weeks. He got really sick going to Birmingham yesterday and had to pull off the road and let me drive. When we got to the infusion clinic they considered not giving him a treatment because he felt so bad but his blood work did not show anything unusual so they went ahead with it. The oncology nurse told me to quit trying to make him eat when he didn't feel like it - just make sure he got plenty of liquids and continue with the Boost and ProSure. She also suggested making a small milkshake and adding Carnation Instant Breakfast.

If you include the oral Xeloda that Sam started taking back in October 2004, he has had 78 chemo treatments. I still think he hated the Oxaliplatin more than any of the others. It's time for us to get some good news - maybe the Erbitux is the answer to all of our prayers.
